The Old State House, also known as the Old Provincial State House, is a historic building in Boston, Massachusetts. Built in 1713, replacing the city's First Town House, it was the seat of the Massachusetts General Court until 1798. It is the oldest extant public building in Boston and one of the oldest public buildings in the United States. At 65 feet, it was also the tallest building in Boston from the time of its construction until 1745, when it was surpassed by the Old North Church in the city's North End.
